BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield State men's basketball team put it all together in a midweek match-up Wednesday night in Ned E. Shott Gymnasium, The Big Blue captured their first win of the season in their home opener after a 104-86 win over Central State University Ohio.

The Big Blue will only have two days before returning to action on Dec. 11 at Jack S. Brayboy Gymnasium against Johnson C. Smith.

Early on the Big Blue had the Marauder's (3-2) on their heels, taking over a ten-point lead by the second media timeout. Bluefield State was scoring, forcing turnovers, and taking advantage of defense leading to offense.

From there, the Big Blue kept a ten-point plus lead throughout the first half, 54-38, at intermission.

In the second half, the Big Blue continued to pull away from Maruader's. Jovon Jones layup was good for the Marauder's closing the Big Blue lead to six, 78-72. 

Off a steal from Jordan Hinds with 6:49 left, Hinds hit three to put the Big Blue back up by 11. 

The Big Blue never surrendered their lead and never dropped their lead below 10 points the rest of the game. 

Marquez Cooper led with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds in 37 minutes. He also had six steals.

Hirotaka Ohashi followed behind Cooper with 22 points on 7-10 shooting in 29 minutes. 

Jordan Hinds had 15 points on 7-10 shooting and five assists in 23 minutes. 

Khamaury McMillan came off the bench scoring 11 points. McMillan also had five steals in 21 minutes. 

Overall, the team shot 40-85 for 47.1%. They were 11-30 for 36.7% from the three-point line.

The team was also 13 of 22 on free throws.

The Big Bue scored 36 points off of turnerovers. 

They outrebounded the Marauder's 12-10.
