BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield men's tennis team traveled to Lincoln Memorial to play a triad of matches over the weekend.
The team played well seizing two victories in two of their three matches against some very tough competition. In the first match against the number 15 NAIA nationally-ranked Bulldogs from Union College, the Big Blue team won in a hard-fought 5-2 match.
Bluefield State got up early winning the doubles point. They then went on to close out the match with singles wins by Frederik Bau-Madsen, Tom Schmieta, Teddy Razafindratsima, and Fabian Avilla.
In the last-second match, the Big Blue started fast sweeping all three doubles but could not muster a win in singles falling to the number 13 NAIA nationally ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots in a 6-1 loss.
The Big Blue team would bounce back to capture a critical 5-1 decision over Division 2 opponent Lincoln Memorial.
