BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State women's basketball team fell to The University of Virginia's College at Wise Wednesday night at David J. Prior Convocation Center, 62-86. The Big Blue drops to 2-7, while the Cavaliers improve to 10-1.

Wednesday evening, The Big Blue held their own in the first half. Holding a 7-3 advantage in steals over the Cavaliers, The Big Blue couldn't turn enough of those into points, going into half down by 7, 31-38. The Big Blue couldn't find a way to come up with the points tonight in order to get the win. 

The Big Blue was able to grab a 27-19 advantage of points off the bench against the Cavaliers tonight. Forward Londen Coleman led the Big Blue with 14 points and 6 rebounds tonight. Followed by Katrina Davis with 12 points. Jia Coppola grabbed 7 solid total rebounds in tonight's matchup.   

The Cavaliers, Hanna Oliver managed to score 21 points against the Bluefield defense. Followed by her teammate Kalee Johnson with 15. The Big Blue managed to score more points off of turnovers, 19-14. However, they couldn't stop the points off of fast breaks for the Cavaliers, 8-32. The Cavaliers also outscored the Big Blue in the paint, 38-26.

The season will continue with a two game series against Gannon University, starting Friday, February 5. The Big Blue will face the Golden Knights at Hammermill Center at 7:00 p.m.
