Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State men's basketball team fell to Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina Thursday night, 74-78. The Big Blue drops to 1-4, while the Tigers improve to 2-0.
Thursday night's game came down to the very last seconds. The Big Blue stayed in close range the entire game. Going into halftime down by three, 36-39. In the end, The Big Blue couldn't put two halves together to come up with a win. The Big Blue had didn't collect any points in the paint and only grabbing seven offensive rebounds total. The Big Blue fought until the clock hit 00:00, calling a time out with:29 left and down by two. The Big Blue just couldn't find a way to come up with the points at the end.
Despite not being on top, multiple players had big production in points. Brandon Anyanwu led the Big Blue with 22 points. Not too far behind was Desmond Freeman with 17 points. Following his teammates was Marquez Cooper, with 13 points. One-off behind Cooper was Taj Toney with 12 points.
The Tigers Timothy Bing only led his team with 16 points. The Tigers also didn't collect any points in the paint tonight. The Tigers collected a total of 25 points off of the Big Blue turnovers tonight.
The season will continue on Friday, February 5 with, a rescheduled game against Allen College. The Big Blue will face the Yellow Jacket in Colombia, SC.
