Box Score ERIE, Pennsylvania - The Bluefield State women's basketball team fell to Gannon University Friday night at The Hammermill Center, 60-90. The Big Blue drops to 2-8, while the Golden Knights improve to 6-1.
Friday evening, The Big Blue went up against a powerhouse number 20 ranked team. The Big Blue only trailed the Golden Knights at the half by seven points, 36-43. The Big Blue led the Golden Knights for most of the first half. The Big Blue couldn't put it together in the second half to get the win against the Golden Knights.
Senior Ameera McClain had big productions on the offense side of the ball. McClain led the Big Blue tonight with 18 points. Followed by her teammates, Katrina Davis and Dani Janutolo with 14 points.
The Golden Knights, Sam Pirosko dropped 20 points against the Bluefield defense. Followed by her teammate Emma Wright with 17 points. The Golden Knights scored 34 of their 90 points off of the Big Blue turnovers. However, neither team couldn't manage to score points inside the paint.

The season will continue Sunday, February 7 with game number two against Gannon University. The Big Blue will face the Golden Knights at Hammermill Center at noon.

"We just need to put a whole game together defensively. We had spurts where we stopped them and kept ourselves in the game against the #20 ranked team in the country. We were strong in the first half offensively and went cold in the second."
