Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Soccer team hosted Concord University in a midweek match-up Wednesday evening at East River Soccer Complex. The Big Blue grabbed another win over the Cougars, 3-1 after a two-hour delay due to weather.
Shannon Henson once again opened the scoring for the Big Blue at the 22-minute mark with an assist from Rachel Major. Henson came out after a quick 5 minute half and fired one in at the 45-minute mark with an assist from Marlena Meyer.
Concords Sydney Tucker answered with a goal at the 67-minute mark. Rachel Major grabbed her first goal of the season at the 72-minute mark.
"Tonight gave us an opportunity to be tested at the next level", said head coach Scott Forster. "It was great to be able to call on some new faces recovering from injury and putting themselves into contention for time. We've been working on creating opportunities as a team and to see us hit 50 shots in two games really is a good sign as we head towards competitive play".
The Big Blue put up 25 shots over the Cougars five in Wednesday evening's game. Cougars Goal Keeper worked tirelessly to hold the Big Blue to only three goals, picking up more than ten saves.
