BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (3-3) handed Claflin (1-3) their third loss of the season as the Big Blue defeated the Panthers, 3-1 Thursday evening in Ned E. Shott Gym.

The Big Blue will be back in action Saturday morning when they travel to Alderson Broaddus in a single match at 11 a.m.

"The atmosphere at the gym tonight was phenomenal and the girls were definitely able to build some momentum from that at times when they were down. Huge thank you to everyone who came out! There are some things we have to get better at this week moving forward in order for us to continue to be successful, but tonight was a great win!"

The Big Blue came out strong and took set one, 25-19. The second set was a different story, as they fell 25-21. The Big Blue battled back and forth with the Panthers to take set three, 30-27.

After being down in a 3-10 deficit at the beginning of the fourth set the Big Blue stormed back to take set four, 25-21. Winning the match, 3-1.

Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue once again with 26 kills, her fourth consecutive match double-digit kills. Dashevska also had 21 digs, giving her four consecutive games with a double-double.

Jordan Duncan also grabbed a double-double tonight. Duncan grabbed 13 kills and 13 digs.
