Box Score WINSTON SALEM, NC - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (4-4) handed Winston-Salem (1-9) their ninth loss of the season as the Big Blue defeated the Rams, 3-1 in a mid-week match up Wednesday evening in Winston Salem, NC.
The Big Blue will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Kentucky State University in a single match at 6 p.m.
"After watching film and reviewing our scouting report this week. We were able to build our strategy at practice to prepare us for today's match. The girls did a really good job of taking what we learned this week and applying it in the match," said head coach Savanna Hammond.
The Big Blue came out strong and took set one, 25-22, and two, 25-19. The Big Blue battled back after dropping the third set, 25-14. Bluefield State came back to took set four to win the match, 25-20.
Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue once again with 18 kills and 18 digs, giving her five consecutive games with a double-double. Jordan Duncan collected 13 digs and missed a double-double by one with 9 kills.
The Rams, Raven Gray also grabbed a double-double tonight. Gray grabbed 14 kills and 15 digs.
"We did a really great job of keeping them out of their system, which allowed us to run our offense successfully. Now it is time to shift our focus and start to prepare for Saturday," said coach Hammond.
