Box Score RALEIGH, NC - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (1-2) won their first game in three years on the road Tuesday afternoon, defeating Saint Augustine's (0-2) in Raleigh, NC at the SAU Invitational.
The Big Blue will be back in action Saturday night when they take on Virginia Union in a single match at 7 p.m.
"The girls came out ready to make a statement today. They set some goals before the game for each position and they did a really good job working to execute on that through all three sets. We still have things we need to continue to build on, but today was a great win for Bluefield State."
The Big Blue fought hard in their opening match against Calumet. BSC lost the first match 25-23. Calumet also took the second match 27-25, but BSC answered in the third match 25-23 to force the fourth match. Calumet closed it out in the fourth match 25-23.
Kate Dasehvska led the Big Blue with a double-double, tallying 19 Kills and 16 digs.
Dajah Farmer added 20 digs and fell short of a double-double with six kills.
Set One
The Falcons got ahead of the Big Blue, 10-4. After a timeout from the Big Blue, they came out and battled back and forth. Then went on to score nine straight points to put them up 18-15.
The Big Blue closed out set one on top of the Falcons, 25-18.
Set Two
The Big Blue went up 8-2 to start set two. The Big Blue kept the lead the entire match, closing out the match 25-12.
Set Three
The Big Blue dominated once again to set the Falcons in the third and final match. Kate Dasehvska collected seven kills and five digs.
