Radford, Va- The Big Blue opened their season Tuesday afternoon with a loss to Radford University with a final score of 1-6 in the opener and 0-2 in game two before play was suspended.
In doubles play, the Big Blue battled strong on courts two and three. Frederick Bau-Madsen and Teddy Razafindratsim battled and finished the last of the doubles matches but fell short 6-7(10).
Moving on to singles play, the highlanders won 5 of the 6 courts. On court 3 Luke Busse dropped the first set 4-6 yet fought hard in the second set but barely lost 6-7.
The Big Blues had determination on their mind as Fabian Avail-Torres won court 5, 6-1, and 6-3. This gave Bluefield State their first win of the evening. Although a hard-fought match, the Big Blue ultimately gave the Radford Highlanders the 6-1 victory
