Charlotte, NC - Bluefield State University women's basketball fall to Johnson C. Smith 86-64 on Saturday.
Essence Cowan and Aerihna Afoa led the Big Blue in scoring with 13 apiece followed by Dani Janutolo with 12 and Zaynah Robinson with 11. Janutolo and Cowan led the Big Blue with five rebounds each.
After trading opening baskets, a three from Cowan and a driving layup from Gabrielle Thomas put the Big Blue up by four. The Golden Bulls would battle back and close out the quarter scoring four in a row to take the three point lead into the second quarter.
The Big Blue would cut the Golden Bulls lead to one after Cowan forced the turnover and found Janutolo for the fastbreak layup. After a quick jumper from JCSU, the Big Blue would answer with eight consecutive points to take the five point lead. The Golden Bulls cut the Big Blue lead to two before going into the half. The Golden Bulls would pull away from the Big Blue in the second half, outscoring the Big Blue 24-11 in the third and 32-21 in the fourth to take the 86-64 victory over the Big Blue.
