Fort Lauderdale, FL – Bluefield State University women's basketball fell short against Nova Southeastern University 86-58 on Monday at Rick Case Arena.
Gabrielle Thomas and Azariah Binford led the scoring for the Big Blue with 15 points each. Thomas also led the Big Blue in rebounds coming away with seven.
A layup from Dani Janutolo got the Big Blue on the board first, but the Sharks quickly answered to tie it up. After falling behind, a three from Thomas with three minutes left evened the score at 13. The Big Blue closed out the quarter outscoring the Sharks 7 – 2 to go into the second quarter with the 20-15 advantage. Midway through the quarter, the Sharks took back the lead 25-24. The Big Blue would only score five more, to go into the half with a deficit of ten.
The Shark offense came out of the half to score 16 before the Big Blue would get on the board. The Big Blue would score eight of the final 13 points to go into the final quarter down 61-38. The Sharks would reach a lead of 29 twice in the final quarter to come away with the victory over the Big Blue.
