Men's Basketball Wins Fourth Home Game of the Season Against Washington Adventist

BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield State men's basketball captured their seventh win of the season to Washington Adventist University in a mid-week match-up Wednesday evening in Ned E. Shott Gym, 102-96.
 Big Blue will travel to Emory and Henry College. Feb. 19. Tipoff is set at 7:00 p.m.
The Big Blue took an early lead against the Shock. At the 17-minute mark, Marquez Cooper got the steal and Kesean Robinson added two with a layup in the paint. 
The Shock quickly went back down to tie it up with a layup by Devon Flowers, 6-6. Hirotaka Ohashi quickly brought it down and got the assists to Jordan Hinds who added two for the Big Blue, 8-6. 
Desmond Freeman completed an old fashion three to put the Big Blue took a 20 point lead at the 10-minute mark. The Big Blue didn't let up the remainder of the first half. They went into halftime with a 17 point lead, 52-35. 
The Big Blue continued to add to their lead at the start of the second half. Marquez Cooper put the Big Blue up by 22 at the 14-minute mark with an and-one. The Shock started creeping back within 10 of the Big Blue when Jaaden Newell fouled to send Mastadi Pitt to the line for two, 99-90.
With:40 left in regulation Freeman drew the foul to go to the line for two, making 1/2. The Big Blue still leading by seven. The Shock didn't give up, but nor did the Big Blue. Landry Palata sealed the win for the Big Blue with:07 to go, making 1/2 free throws. 
Marquez Cooper led with 25 points on 10-14 shooting. Cooper added five rebounds in 30 minutes. 
Kesean Robinson had a season-high of 24 points on 12-16 shooting. Robinson added six rebounds and five steals in 34 minutes. 
Jordan Hinds and Desmond Freeman both added 12 points. Hinds added five rebounds in 14 minutes. 
Hirotaka Ohashi added 11 points and seven assists in 35 minutes.
Landry Palata missed a triple-double by four points and four blocks. Palata added ten rebounds in 28 minutes. 
Overall, the team shot 38-73 for 52.1%. 
They were 4-17 for 23.5% from the three-point line.
The team was also 22 of 30 on free throws.
The Shock outrebounded the Big Blue 49-43.
