The Big Blue Open the '22 Season at Anderson University

BLUEFIELD - After winning the Inaugural Black College World Series and having their first winning season in program history (15-12) (.556), The Bluefield State baseball team will open up their season on the road at Anderson University. 

 Bluefield State's first three games will be: 

  •  Saturday, Feb. 5 – 2:00 p.m. EST
  • Saturday, Feb. 5 – 5:00 p.m. EST
  • Sunday, Feb. 6 – 2:00 p.m. EST

All home games will be streamed on the Big Blue Sports Network. 

The Trojans finished the 2020-21 season 13-24 (.351).

Shawn Runey a transfer from North Carolina Central will start on the mound for the Big Blue in game one. 

Game two will feature starting pitcher, Jacob Matheny, a transfer from Patrick Henry Community College.

Josh Plisko a transfer from Wake Tech Community College will start on the mound for the Big Blue in game three.

The Big Blue return a strong core of players from last season with an addition of a few transfers and a large class of freshmen.

Head Baseball Coach Drew Bailey heads into the second season and looks to have another winning season. Coach Bailey grew his team by almost 30 players in the recruiting season and isn't slowing down anytime soon. "We are very excited to play against a quality opponent this weekend and showcase all the hard work our team has put in," said Head Coach Drew Bailey
