BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield State men's basketball team captured their fourth win in a row against Emory and Henry College Saturday afternoon in Ned E. Shott Gym, 110-91.
The Big Blue will travel to the University of Charleston. Feb. 7. Tipoff is set at 7:00 p.m.
The Big Blue took the lead early in the first quarter. The Wasps tied it up 14-14 at the 14-minute mark with a three-pointer by Micah Banks.
Marquez Cooper hit a jumper to put the Big Blue back up by two. The Wasps quickly took the lead back with a three-pointer by Jacob Morgan.
Jordan Hinds tied it back up for the Big Blue with a jumper, 23-23 with 11:31 to go. The Big Blue took the lead at the 10-minute mark with a dunk by
Landry Palata, 27-25.
The Big Blue held the lead for the remainder of the half. At the half, the Big Blue led by 20, 62-42.
The Big Blue had 19 points off turnovers, and 11 off the bench.
The Big Blue never let up and continued to add to their lead to start the second half. The Wasps never got within under 10 the rest of the second half.
The Big Blue saw over half of their points from within the paint. Working tirelessly in the paint, the Big Blue grabbed 38 in the first half and 36 in the second.
Jordan Hinds led with a career-high of 35 points on 15-22 shooting. Hinds added seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals in 28 minutes.
Marquez Cooper followed with 23 points on 10-16 shooting. Cooper added five rebounds in 23 minutes.
Landry Palata had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in 25 minutes.
Khamaury McMillian added 12 points off the bench on 6-10 shooting. McMillian added five steals in 22 minutes.
Overall, the team shot 46-87 for 52.9%.
They were 6-23 for 26.1% from the three-point line.
The team was also 12 of 15 on free throws.
The Big Bue outrebounded the Wasps 51-41.
