CHARLESTON, West Virginia – The Bluefield State men's basketball fell on the road to the University of Charleston Monday evening in Wehrle Arena, 97-63.
 Big Blue will host Concord University. Feb. 14. Tipoff is set at 7:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles took the lead early in the first half. The Big Blue managed to keep the Golden Eagles' lead below 10. Shaun Monroe dropped a three from the top of the key extending the Golden Eagles lead by 11, 21-10. 
Landry Palata drew the foul and went to the line to shoot two. Palata made 1/2 cutting the Golden Eagles lead back down to 10. 
The Golden Eagles from then on out controlled the tempo of the game. Never allowing the Big Blue back within 10, they continued to extend their lead. 
The Big Blue were outworked in the paint in the first half, 46-32.  
The second was an uphill battle that the Big Blue couldn't overcome. The Big Blue outrebounded the Golden Eagles in the second half 20-17. 
The Golden Eagles capitalized off the Big Blue turnovers. Scoring 26 points off of turnovers in the second half. Again dominating in the paint, the Golden Eagles saw 46 points in the paint versus the Big Blue 32. 
Marquez Cooper led with  17 points on 8-15 shooting in 25 minutes.
Julio Pascual followed with 10 points on 4-5 shooting in 14 minutes. Pascual added three rebounds.  
Landry Palata added nine points and six rebounds in 24 minutes. 
Overall, the team shot 27-62 for 43.5%. 
They were 1-10 for 10.0% from the three-point line.
The team was also 8 of 14 on free throws.
The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Big Blue 38-35.
