GREENVILLE, North Carolina -- The Bluefield State Baseball team fell in a doubleheader to North Greeneville Tuesday afternoon at Ray and Bea Dillard Field.
Game 1:
North Greeneville got on the board first in the bottom of the first after a four-pitch walk brought in Gehrig Octavio making it a 1-0 game. The Crusaders added two more runs in the inning on another walk and a wild pitch, 3-0.
In the bottom of the second, Marek Chlup singled to center field bringing in Octavio. The Crusaders added three more runs in the bottom of the third after a home run by Pat Monteith, an RBI single by John Michael Faile and an RBI double by Octavio, 8-0.
The Big Blue found new life after being shut out in the first three innings. Ty Sizemore grounded out and brought in CJ Copper, 8-1. The Crusaders answered back in the bottom of the fourth with a run of their own after Monteith scored on a sac fly.
The Big Blue added their final run in the top of the fifth after
Brayden Merrick scored on a ground out by
Garret Hladilek, 9-2.
Game 2:
The Big Blue struck first at the start of game two, after a home run by Ty Sizemore in the top half of the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, The Crusaders scored five runs on a three-run home run by Marek Chlup and on a two-RBI double by Pat Monteith, 5-1.
In the bottom of the second, the Crusaders added two more runs after an RBI double by Ethan Stringer and an RBI single by Jordan Holladay making, 7-1. The Crusaders added another run in the bottom of the third after an RBI single by Stringer.
The Big Blue added two runs in the top of the fourth after
Cole Cote had a two-run homer, 8-3.
The Crusaders answered back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring nine runs in the inning on a grand slam and two RBI singles, 17-3 game. In the bottom of the fifth, the Crusaders scored their final run on a wild pitch, 18-3.

The Big Blue will travel to the University of Charleston for a three-game series. Mar. 5 and Mar 6. The first pitch is set at 1 pm.
