INSTITUTE, West Virginia -- The Bluefield State baseball team fell to West Virginia State University in a midweek match Wednesday afternoon at Calvin L. Bailey Field, 3-1.
 The Yellow Jackets took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI triple by Matthew Kline, 1-0. Kline would later score on an RBI ground out by outfielder Trey Junkins to give them a 2-0 lead over the Big Blue.Â
At the top of the second, the Big Blue answered with their only run of the game on an RBI single by
Garret Hladilek which brought in
Brayden Merrick, 2-1.Â
In the bottom half of the inning, The Yellow Jackets added their final run with an RBI single that brought in Brett Christian. The Yellow Jackets and the Big Blue remained scoreless the rest of the game.Â

The Big Blue will travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to face Carolina University in a doubleheader Thursday. Mar. 10. The first pitch is set at 12 pm.
