Baseball Sweeps Emory and Henry in Midweek Matchup

MEADOWVIEW, Virginia -- The Bluefield State Baseball team swept Emory & Henry Wednesday in a mid-week doubleheader.

Game 1:

The Big Blue got on the board first after a single in the top of the second by Roman Moore that brought in JR McRee to make it a. In the top of the third, the Big Blue added two runs to their lead after a throwing error by the Wasp that allowed Jordan Varela-Payne to score. 

Ty Sizemore had an RBI sac fly to bring in Garrett Hladilek to make it a 3-0 game. The Big Blue added another four runs to the board in the fourth inning on two home runs and an RBI single to extend their lead to 7-0. 

The Big Blue added 12 more runs between the fifth and seventh inning to take a 20-0 lead over the Wasp. The Big Blue held the wasp scoreless the entire game. 

Game 2:

The Big Blue struck first after Taylor Tibbs singled in the top of the second to bring in Brantley Durham. The Wasp would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Will Reagan. 

The Big Blue answered back with runs of their own after Garrett Hladilek had a two-RBI single that brought in Jordan Varela-Payne and Taylor Tibbs to take a 3-1 lead over the Wasp. Ty Sizemore homered in the sixth to add to the Big Blue lead, 4-1. At the top of the seventh, Cole Cote had an RBI single for the Big Blue that brought in Varela-Payne to score the last run of game two, 5-1.
