BLUEFIELD -- The Bluefield State baseball team will defend their title at the 2022 HBCU World Series. The Series will be held May 11-May 14 at Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits, Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Big Blue will face Miles College from Fairfield, AL, on Wednesday, May 11, at 5:00 PM CT.
The second annual HBCU World Series involves eight teams divided into two brackets, NCAA Division II and NAIA.
Bluefield State plays in the Division II bracket and is ranked third behind Albany State (1) and Miles College (2). Kentucky State is ranked fourth respectively.
Florida Memorial is the number one seed in the NAIA bracket, followed by Edward Waters, Rust College, and Talladega College.
The Series is organized in a double-elimination format with bracket winners facing off for a one-game championship.
Bluefield State finished the season 22-25. Bluefield State is coming off a two-game series split against Shepherd University.
Miles finished at 25-23 and is coming off a two-game losing streak in the SIAC Championship.
All Bluefield State games will be broadcast by Zach Helton over the Big Blue Sports Network.

The Black College World Series is the brainchild of BSCG360 and Black College Nines, both supporters of Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Seeding was determined by the Black College Nines weekly poll.
A total of 13 games are scheduled. The Festivities will begin Tuesday, May 10 with the Black College Nines Post Season Awards Banquet.
