Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University Volleyball dropped set one 24-26 and set two 19-25, but rallied to take the last three sets (25-15, 25-18, 15-12) to take the victory of Virginia Union University.
The Big Blue got on the board first in set three, but the Panthers scored two to take the lead. The Big Blue answered with four of their own to take back the lead. The Big Blue extended their lead by five later in the set after a kill from Jannice Lynch. A kill by Imani Stokes brought the Big Blue to match point. The Panthers scored two before a kill from Lynch secured the set for the Big Blue.
The Big Blue took the early 5-1 lead in set four after a kill from Allyson Martin, two from Lynch and one from Lindsey Neal. The Panthers pulled within one but a kill from Kateryna Dashevska and Martin extended the lead by three. A match point kill from Martin (25-18) forced the deciding set.
The Panthers started set five with a kill, but the Big Blue answered three to take the lead. The Panthers bounced back to take the 4-3 lead, but a kill from Lynch sparked a three-point run to take the lead. Later in the set, the Panthers pulled within one of the Big Blue (13-12), but a kill from Lynch and an error from the Panthers sealed the victory for the Big Blue.
