Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University volleyball fell to Fayetteville State in the CIAA Quarterfinals 3-1 on Tuesday.
Fayetteville claimed set one 25-19 and set two 26-24. The Big Blue bounced back to take set three 26-24, but dropped set four 25-22.
In set three, a kill from Kateryna Dashevska gave the Big Blue the 4-3 lead. The Broncos answered with seven consecutive points to take the 10-4 lead. After back-to-back kills from Callesta Styles, the Big Blue pulled within one. Later in the set, a kill from Jannice Lynch sparked four points in a row to even the score at 21. After three tied scores, the Big Blue scored the final two points to take set three 26-24.
Falling behind 14-11 in set four, Lynch led the way for a five-point run to give the Big Blue the 16-14 lead. The Broncos tied it up at 16 and then again at 18. The Broncos would go out to outscore the Big Blue 7-5 to secure the victory over the Big Blue.
