Fort Lauderdale, FL – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Barry University (99-89) on Saturday and #1 Nova Southeastern (110-86) Sunday.
The Big Blue opened game one against Barry with back-to-back buckets from
Ja'Mere Redus and
Rylan Bowens to take the early lead, but Barry answered to maintain the lead until the Big Blue tied it up at the 6:14 mark at 41. A dunk from
Jordan Hinds and a layup from O'Montae Daniels pulled the Big Blue within three, but Barry closed out the half with a buzzer three to take the 59-53 advantage over the Big Blue into the half.
A bucket from
Clay Baldwin with five minutes left to play pulled the Big Blue within four, but the Big Blue could not get any closer, falling 99-89 to Barry University.
Jordan Hinds led the Big Blue with 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Jaylen Bernard added 15,
Nduka Ogwu added 11, and
Clay Baldwin added 10.
After a strong first half with #1 Nova Southeastern, the Sharks pulled away to take the 110-86 victory over the Big Blue.
After the Sharks attacked first, a three from Ogwu gave the Big Blue the one-point lead. Both teams battled to even the score nine times in the first half. At the 3:29 mark with the score tied at 40, the Sharks went on a 6-0 run to take the lead. Two free throws from
Chase Page and a three from Bernard brought the Sharks with three. A three point play by Redus cut the Sharks lead to two, but the Sharks extended their lead to four to go into the half.
The Sharks got the first bucket of the second half and never looked back, outscoring the Big Blue 58-38 in the second half to take the 110-86 victory over the Big Blue.
Jordan Hinds led the Big Blue with 21 points, four steals, and three rebounds.
Chase Page contributed 15 points, with Ja'Mere and Nduka Ogqu coming away with 11 apiece.
