Athens, WV – Bluefield State University softball fell to the Concord Mountain Lions 7-1 and 15-0 on Friday.
Game One
Both teams were held scoreless until a homerun in the fifth inning for the Mountain Lions brought in three and later added two more to take the 5-0 lead. In the top of the sixth, Big Blue Bella Coffman doubled to right field followed by a single from Valeria Rivera and a walk from Hannah Fisher loaded the bases. Taylor Henson singled to right field to bring in the lone run for the Big Blue. The Mountain Lions added two in the bottom of the inning to take the 7-1 lead over the Big Blue.
Paige Whittington and Taylor Henson came away with two hits each in game one with Coffman and Valeria adding one apiece.
Taylor Fells got the loss for the Big Blue throwing four innings, giving up five hits and striking out two.
Game Two
The Big Blue were held scoreless in game two, with Calla Cooksey and Whittington collecting one hit each. The Mountain Lions took the lead early, scoring ten in the first, one in the second, and two in the third and fourth.

The Big Blue will host Alderson Broaddus University in the home opener Wednesday, March 15th with the first game set for 1 p.m.
