Winston-Salem, NC- Bluefield State University softball split the day with Winston-Salem State University, falling in game one 10-0 and taking game two 12-10.
After going scoreless in game one, with only one hit coming from Valeria Rivera, the Big Blue bounced back to take game two.
Winston-Salem State took the 3-0 lead in the second but the Big Blue answered with six of their own in the third.
Calla Cooksey, Emma Crawford and Bella Coffman led off the inning with walks to load the bases. Rivera and Taylor Anderson were hit by the pitch to bring in two for the Big Blue. Taylor Henson, JoElna Arnold, and Julianna Costanzo then drew walks to bring in three more across the plate before a ground out brought in the sixth run of the inning for the Big Blue.
Crawford drew another walk to open up the fourth before Coffman homered to add two for the Big Blue.
WSSU pulled within one after adding four in the bottom of the inning.
In the sixth, Coffman took her base after getting hit by the pitch followed by a single from Rivera and walk from Anderson to load the bases. Henson drove in one with Hannah Fisher and Paige Whittington driving in another.
Winston-Salem State added two more in the seventh, but two ground outs to pitcher Taylor Fells and a fly out to Rivera secured the 12-10 victory for the Big Blue.

This Big Blue will travel to Charleston, WV on Saturday, March 4th to take on West Virginia State at 12 p.m. and Frostburg State at 2 p.m.
