Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University has named Chelsea "Coach Holli" Holliday as head softball coach. A native of Willingboro, New Jersey, Holliday comes to Bluefield State from Minot State where she serves as assistant coach.
"I'm excited to be a part of the Bluefield community!" said coach Chelsea Holliday. "I look forward to building a strong program and leading our young women to success academically and athletically. Go Big Blue!"
Holliday is a graduate from Shaw University. While there, as a 4-year starter, Holliday earned All-CIAA honor and was named to the All-Rookie team. In 2012, she competed as a member of Team USA at the 2012 Curacao Friendship Series.
In her collegiate career at Shaw, Coach Holli collected 14 homeruns, 64 RBIs, 78 runs and 60 stolen bases.
"We value sportsmanship and integrity within our program, and we expect our new coach to uphold these principles. Chelsea will be a role model for our student-athletes and instill values of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanlike conduct" said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Derrick Price.
Prior to her time at Minot State, Holliday spent three years at Division I Grambling University where she earned her Master's in Sports Administration.
