Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University Volleyball fell to King University 3-1 on Thursday.
After falling behind early in set one, back-to-back kills from Lindsey Neal and Caely Banger evened the score at five. King answered with five consecutive points to take the 10-5 lead. The Tornado would go on to outscore the Big Blue 15-7 to take set one 25-12.
King carried their momentum into set two to secure the set 25-12.
The Big Blue bounced back, scoring the first five points of set three: a kill from Kateryna Dashevska and Callesta Styles, two kills by Neal, and an error by King. Later in the set, the Big Blue pulled away with a six-point run, led by a kill from Styles, Imani Stokes, and Neal and two service aces from Karlee Rae Hill, to extend their lead 22-12. Back-to-back kills from Stokes and Lynch secured set three, 25-15, for the Big Blue.
The Big Blue opened set four with a kill from Dashevska, an error by King, and a kill from Styles to take the early lead. After King evened the score, the Big Blue went on a 11-1 scoring run to take their largest lead of the night 14-4. The Tornado battled back and took the last five points to secure the set 25-21.
