Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University women's soccer secured the 5-1 victory in their home opener against WVU Tech on Wednesday.
The home opener started with WVU Tech getting on the board early in the match, but it was the Big Blue who battled back to come out victorious at the end of the day.
The Big Blue began to battle back after a goal from Carmen Galante to even the score a one in the 16th minute. A goal by Sayen Santana, assisted by Bianka Zeitvogel put the Big Blue on top in the 23rd minute
The Big Blue stepped it up in the second half with Martina Cardemil's goal in the 60th minute. Fueling the Big Blue, Ava Jakich-Kunze added a goal to give Bluefield State the 4-1 lead. In the 81st minute, Nicole Davis cemented the Big Blue win with the final goal of the night.
Goalkeeper Rylee Truslow picked up two saves on the day.
