Elizabeth City, NC – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell short to Elizabeth City State 99-90. The Big Blue move to 6-12 (3-5 CIAA) and the Vikings move to 6-12 (3-4 CIAA) on the year.
After the Vikings opened play to take the lead, the Big Blue answered with back-to-back buckets by Jordan Hinds and Clay Baldwin to take the 4-2 lead. The Vikings built a five-point lead but a layup and a three from Jaylen Bernard evened the score at 24. A layup from Hinds at the 2:25 mark gave the Big Blue the four-point lead, but the Vikings outscored the Big Blue 10-2 to take the four-point advantage into the half.
The Big Blue battled back to take the 52-49 lead three minutes into the half. After falling behind midway through the half, two free throws from J. Caleb Slawinski and a layup from Hinds gave the Big Blue the four point lead. After the Vikings took the two-point lead, a layup by Baldwin evened the score at 82 with four minutes left to play. The Vikings would outscore the Big Blue 17-8 to take the 99-90 victory.
Jordan Hinds led all scorers with 33 points with Jaylen Bernard adding 18, Clay Baldwin with 13 and Rylan Bowens with 12.
