Bluefield State Seeks Road Win Against Shaw University

| By:

Raleigh, NC - Bluefield State University Football will travel to Shaw University Saturday, October 5th for a 1 p.m. kick-off. The Big Blue are currently 1-3 with the Bears coming in at 3-2. The Big Blue lead the series 9-2-3 with the first matchup in 1934 with the Big Blue coming away with 39-0 victory over Shaw.

Shaw University comes into the game with momentum, having won three of their five games this season. They'll rely on their strong offense, led by Redshirt Senior Quarterback Christian Peters and Redshirt Senior Wideout Ah'shaan Belcher. Which has been a talented duo of a capable passing attack. Their defense has also been holding its own, making it tough for opponents to score. Shaw will aim to continue their winning ways and keep pressure on the Big Blue.

The Big Blue, with a 1-3 record, is seeking to bounce back from a tough loss. Despite the slow start, there have been flashes of promise, particularly on defense. However, they'll need a complete team effort to slow down Shaw's offense and put points on the board. A strong start and some key defensive plays from players such as junior linebacker Jahman McNeil and sophomore defensive back Anthony Fisher could help them stay in the game.

Game keys:

- For the Big Blue, containing Shaw's offense will be the top priority. If they can keep Shaw from scoring early, they'll have a chance to stay competitive.

- On the other hand, Shaw will want to build an early lead and keep the pressure on Bluefield's defense. It could come down to which team executes better in key moments.

- This game will be crucial for both teams as Shaw looks to strengthen their season, while the Big Blue fights to turn things around

Kickoff: 1 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium, Raleigh, NC.
