Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University football closed the season with a 27-21 loss against Elizabeth City State on Saturday at Michell Stadium. Prior to the game, a moment was taken to honor the 2024 football seniors.
The Big Blue showed early momentum with a 10-yard run from Brandyn Jordan on the opening play. Later in the drive, quarterback Keland Mills put the Big Blue on the board first after a 5-yard touchdown. The Vikings answered to start the second quarter with a touchdown of their own to even the score, 7-7. The Big Blue took back the lead after a 97-yard kick off return by Jaden Allen, 14-7. The Vikings added another touchdown to take the 21-14 lead into the half.
In the fourth quarter the Big Blue pulled within six points when quarterback Christian Solino led a last-minute drive ending with a 1-yard rushing touchdown made it 27-21 with 37 seconds left to play. The Big Blue attempted the onside kick, but fell short, falling to the Vikings 29-21.
Erik Lumpkin led the defense with seven tackles (5 solo) including 3.5 tackles for loss with Justin Campbell and Jahman McNeil having six apeice.
