Lincoln, PA – Bluefield State University Volleyball took down the Lincoln University in three sets in the final game of the regular season. The Big Blue improve to 15-17 (11-4 CIAA) and secure the #2 spot in the North.
The Big Blue jumped out to an early lead after scoring six unanswered points, 8-2. The Lions battled back to pull within three, but the Big Blue scored seven in a row to extend their lead (16-6). The Big Blue closed out the set with three points from a kill by Soniya Garner, a block by Imani Stokes and Garner and a match point ace from Kaileigh Solis, 25-12.
The Lions took the 7-5 lead in the second set, but a kill from Jannice Lynch sparked a nine-point run later in the set for the Big Blue to take the 20-13 lead. The Lions got to 19, but the Big Blue took the last two points to secure the set win.
After trading multiple points to open set three, back-to-back kills from Garner gave the Big Blue the 7-4. The Lions pulled within two, but the Big Blue answered with five points to push their lead 15-8. The Lions scored the next three, but the Big Blue scored the next ten points to seal the victory over the Lions, 25-11.
The Big Blue were led by Lynch with 12 kills and five service aces. Brishaela McHaney and Garner both came away with five blocks each. Gabby Hale added 26 assists and Kaileigh Solis added 10 digs.
Final: Bluefield State 3, Lincoln (PA) 0, (25-12, 25-19, 25-11)
