Denmark, SC – Bluefield State University earned their first victory of the season over Voorhees, 14-4.
After both teams went scoreless to open the game, a walk by Garret Hladilek sparked the Big Blue offense in the second inning. After Hladilek's walk, Jean Carlos Diaz doubled to put runners on second and third followed by a walk by Korbin Bostic. Caleb Roofe brought the first run home for the Big Blue after he drew the walk. Tahraun Hammond brought in the second run of the inning after a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in pinch runner Bryce Hunt. The Tigers pulled within one in the bottom of the inning. The Big Blue scored two in the top of the fourth, but the Tigers tied it up at four in the bottom of the inning.
The Big Blue pulled away in the fifth, bringing nine across the plate. Hladilek led off the inning with a hit by pitch. Later in the inning, back-to-back singles from Bostic and Roofe loaded the bases. Hammond and Peyton Lewis drew a walk to bring in two. Tahir Meulens brought one in after reaching on an error and Dillon Sullivan drew a walk to bring in the fourth run of the inning. Chris Larkin flew out to center field to score Lewis. Hladilek cleared the bases with a triple to right center field to score Sullivan and Meulens. Hunt and Hammond capped off the nine-run inning after drawing walks to bring in one each.
Diaz scored the final run of the night after a lead off left field homerun to seal the 14-4 victory over Voorhees.
Braeden Major earned the win for the Big Blue, throwing four innings giving up eight hits, four runs and striking out two.
