Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Lincoln (PA) University 78-74 in overtime.
With 8:55 left to go in the first, a trip to the line for Rylan Bowens put the Big Blue up by one, and two free throws from J. Caleb Slawinski extended that lead to three. At the 3:04 mark, a three from Clay Baldwin evened the score at 28. The Big Blue built a lead of four with one-minute left in the first after a layup from Slawinski and two free throws from Jordan Hinds. The Lions closed out the half with the last points to take the 35-34 lead into the half.
The Big Blue opened the half with a three from Jaylen Bernard, followed by a layup from Hinds to take the 39-35 lead. At the 14:35 mark, the Lions took the one-point lead. The Big Blue scored ten consecutive points to take the 62-53 lead with 5:37 left to play. The Lions began to chip away at the Big Blue lead, and two free throws evened the score at 66 to force overtime.
The Big Blue started the overtime period with the first seven points to take the 73-66 lead. The Lions answered with the next six points to pull within one. The Lions took the two-point lead with 19 seconds remaining. After a late foul by the Big Blue, the Lions sunk two free throws to come away with the 78-74 victory over the Big Blue.
