Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University volleyball fell to Emory & Henry University 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) in their home opener on Wednesday.
Leading Bluefield State's offensive charge was Jannice Lynch, who tallied 11 kills and hit at a .222 percentage. Soniya Garner also contributed seven kills, while Gabby Hale recorded a match-high 26 assists, eight digs, two kills, one block and one service ace to guide the Bluefield State attack.
Emory & Henry was led by Brianna Hogan with five kills and Logan Newberry, who notched five kills on a .714 hitting percentage along with 12 assists. Bluefield State managed to keep pace during parts of the match, with the score being tied 10 times and seven lead changes, but ultimately fell short in each set.
The Big Blue move to 1-4 on the year, with the Wasps earning their first win of the season (1-4).
