Bluefield, WV - Bluefield State University Football will host Johnson C. Smith University for Homecoming this Saturday with a 6 p.m. kick-off. The Big Blue are currently 1-2 with the Golden Bulls coming in at 4-0. The Big Blue lead the series 8-3-1 with the first matchup in 1934 resulting in a 12-0 win for the Big Blue.
Johnson C. Smith enters the game undefeated, they currently have the #1 offense and defense in the CIAA conference. Their balanced offense conducted by quarterback Darius Ocean and strong defense led by linebacker Benari Black (31 tackles) have carried them through the season.
Bluefield State, with a 1-2 record, is seeking to rebound from a tough start. The Big Blue will need to step up their game to challenge a red-hot JCSU squad. Their defense will be crucial in trying to slow down the Golden Bulls' offense, and will need help from players such as junior linebacker Jahman McNeil & senior defensive back Justin Campbell. The Big Blue offense led by freshman quarterback Christian Solino needs to find rhythm and consistency to avoid falling into an early hole.
