Bluefield, WV – The Bluefield State Big Blue are looking to bounce back after a tough 34-3 loss to Winston-Salem State, as they prepare to take on the Concord University Mountain Lions on Saturday, September 7th at 1 p.m. at Callaghan Stadium
Big Blue
In last week's matchup,
Jahman McNeil led the Big Blue defense with ten tackles, including two for loss.
Marcus Young Jr. contributed seven tackles with
Justin Campbell adding 1.5 tackles for loss. On the offensive side,
Christian Solino threw for 107 yards, completing 14 of 26 attempts.
Danny Dales averaged 42 yards on eight punts and got the Big Blue on the board with a 25-yard field goal.
Mountain Lions
Concord finished 1-10 in the 2023 season and were picked ninth in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) preseason poll. Key players for the Mountain Lions include defensive lineman Vonte Pannell, linebacker Jamari Smith and defensive back Kendal Bournes.
This will mark the first meeting between Bluefield State and Concord since 1979, with the all-time series tied 9-9.
