Bluefield, WV - Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Elizabeth City State 93-88 on Saturday. The Big Blue fall to 10-6 (3-3 CIAA) on the year with the Vikings moving to 10-6 (3-4 CIAA).
There were 16 lead changes and 10 ties in the matchup, with Romeo Aquino leading the Big Blue with 24 points, going 11-of-13 from the line, and pulling down six rebounds. Rell Williams and Jordan Hinds added 13 points apiece, while Shainen Carter recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Big Blue built a seven-point lead at the 5:34 mark, but the Vikings battled back to even the score at 38 to go into the half. In the second half, the Vikings took a nine point lead with 3:20 left in regulation. Despite a late rally by the Big Blue, including key baskets from Aquino and Williams, the Vikings sealed the win at the free-throw line, 93-88.
