Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Virginia State University 82-67 to give the Trojans their first conference loss of the season. The Big Blue improve to 11-6 (4-3 CIAA) on the year with the Trojans moving to 12-5 (7-1 CIAA).
Romeo Aquino led all players with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Hinds added 19 points and nine rebounds with Larry Howell coming away with 13 points.
Midway through the first half, the Trojans built a ten-point lead over the Big Blue. A trip to the line for Aquino evened the score at 26. The Big Blue closed out the final two minutes of the first half outscoring the Trojans 5-3 to take the 33-32 lead into the half.
The Big Blue had their largest lead of the night at 21 after a tipin by Aquino with 7:28 left to play. The Big Blue outscored the Trojans 49-35 to secure the 82-67 victory over Virginia State.
