Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down King University 104-95 to move to 9-5 (2-2 CIAA) on the year.
King opened play with a 7-0 run to take the early lead over the Big Blue. A layup by Shainen Carter at the 14:47 mark to pull the Big Blue within two. The Big Blue took their first lead of the night after a three from Darius Boben, 18-17. King answered back and built a lead of seven with eight minutes left in the half. The Big Blue battled back to take the 38-37 lead with 2:35 left in the first after a three from Rell Williams-. The Big Blue closed out the half outscoring King 8-5 to take the 46-42 lead into the half.
The Big Blue maintained the lead until the 14:16 mark when a King layup put them ahead by one. A trip to the line for Williams sparked an eight-point run for the Big Blue to take back the lead, 82-75. The Big Blue started to pull away with five minutes left to play, building their lead to as large as 12 with 41 seconds remaining. A late foul sent King to the line with 17 seconds left but couldn't overcome the Big Blue, 104-95.
Hinds came away with a double-double, 24 points, 12 rebounds and five assists with Williams adding 24 points and nine assists. Travon Cooper II added 13 points, Carter with 12 points and Boben with 10 points.
