Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University Athletics welcomes back Sydney Philpott as Associate Athletic Trainer for the Big Blue.

Philpott joins the Big Blue sports medicine staff after serving the last three years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Virginia's College at Wise, an NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference. While at UVA Wise, Philpott provided men's basketball, cross country, track & field, golf, football, cheerleading, and softball coverage. Prior to UVA Wise, Philpott served as Athletic Trainer for all programs and helped build the foundation for the University's growing athletic department.

A native of West Virginia, Philpott earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Concord University in 2022 and is currently completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training with a concentration in Rehabilitation at A.T. Still University. In 2022, Philpott was awarded the Outstanding Athletic Training Program Student Award. This award is selected by ATP preceptors and faculty and awarded to the student who has demonstrated outstanding performance and commitment during clinicals.

Philpott is a Board of Certification-certified Athletic Trainer and holds certifications in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Naloxone Training, and Sexual Assault Advocacy.
