Glenville, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball came up just short 68-67 on the road at Glenville State. The Big Blue move to 0-5 on the season.
The Big Blue jumped ahead early, building a 24-11 lead midway through the half. The Big Blue controlled the glass, converting second-chance opportunities to maintain control for majority of the half to take the 39-35 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers found its rhythm in the second half from the three point line to swing the momentum from the Big Blue. The Pioneers built their lead to seven with 5:24 left to play, but back-to-back threes from Ellija Preddy and Myles Pierre pulled the Big Blue within one. The Big Blue pulled within one again in the final minute, but couldn't overcome the Pioneers 68-67.
Ellija Preddy led the Big Blue with 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Myles Pierre added 18 points, including three threes and a perfect 5-for-5 from the line. Anthony Davenport finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Anthony Latty dominated the glass with 16 rebounds and three assists.
