Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Fayetteville State on Monday 81-74. The Big Blue improve to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.
The Big Blue built momentum early, using strong shooting and activity at the glass to take the 40-35 lead into halftime. The Big Blue connected on six threes in the opening half and forced the Broncos into multiple empty possessions to maintain control.
Fayetteville State kept the pressure on throughout the second half, trimming the deficit and briefly taking the lead early in the half. The Big Blue responded with timely baskets and rebounds to regain the lead and protect it down the stretch.
The Big Blue shot 51.9% from the field and held a 39-29 advantage on boards while going 18-for-24 from the free-throw line.
Ellija Preddy led all scorers with a game-high 30 points, shooting 11-of-16 from the field. Myles Pierre added 23 points, knocking down five threes, while Anthony Latty anchored the paint with a game-high 13 rebounds, while adding eight points and a block.
