Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University women's basketball delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, defeating Charleston (WV) 80-51. The Big Blue improve to 6-5 (1-2 CIAA).
The Big Blue set the tone early, erupting for 28 points in the first while holding the Golden Eagles to just 13. The Big Blue used a high-pressure defense to force nine turnovers in the opening half. By halftime, the Big Blue extended their lead 41-25.
The momentum stayed with the home team in the second half. The Big Blue put together another scoring run in the third to outscore the Golden Eagles 26-17 to push the lead to 25 going into the final quarter. The Big Blue finished with 20 steals and forced a total of 38 turnovers.
Leniyah Fulsom led the Big Blue with a team-high 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. Jayla Sample added 14 points with Jasmine Jenkins coming away with nine points and four steals. Shanon Hoover controlled the boards for the Big Blue with 12 rebounds.
