Institute, WV – Bluefield State University baseball dropped a double header contest against West Virginia State 11-2 and 5-2.
Game One – 11-2 L
Down 11-0 going into the seventh, a triple from Caleb Roofe to right field brought home previously walked Jordan Batten and Anderson Moreno to score two for the Big Blue.
Angel Martinez, Batten and Roofe each came away with one hit in game one. Grayson Peel collected the loss on the mound, throwing three innings giving up 10 hits, two walks and struck out three.
Game Two – 5-2 L
The Yellow Jackets scored three in the third and two in the fifth to take the early 5-0 lead. Sabastian Ortega drew the lead off walk to start the 7th. Colton Roberts singled followed by Kevin Rodriguez getting hit by the pitch to load the bases. Martinez was also hit by the pitch to bring home one for the Big Blue. A ground out by Moreno brought home the second run for the Big Blue.
Anderson led the Big Blue with two hits, with Rodriguez, Martinez, James Germosen, Nick Diaz and Roberts each collecting one hit. Jonah Brower got the loss for the Big Blue throwing 4.1 innings, six hits and struck out five.
