Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's and women's tennis programs continue to excel both on the court and in the classroom, as nine student-athletes have been recognized as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes. In addition, the women's team earned distinction as an ITA All-Academic Team for the 2024–25 academic year.
The following student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes:
Pablo Garcia Alvarez, Tim Volz, Said Santin, Ekin Ozmen, Isabella Disibbio, Jordyn Lambert, Kaylee Carr, Raajitha Koganti, and Adriana Torroba Tejada.
"I am so very proud of all the players on both teams that achieved the goal of becoming an ITA scholar athlete," said head coach Tim Dunford. "In my 16-year coaching career, I have had several teams win ITA All-Academic but this is the first time that every single player on the team achieved ITA scholar athlete. Congratulations to the women's team for having the winningest season in program history, but more importantly showing what a true student athlete should be."
To qualify for ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year and appear on the institution's eligibility form.
The ITA All-Academic Team honor is awarded to programs with a team GPA of 3.2 or higher, with all eligible student-athletes and varsity letter winners included in the calculation.
