Bluefield, VA – Bluefield State University Volleyball fell to Bluefield University on Wednesday. 3-0.
The first set featured 11 ties and three lead changes. Down 13-10 midway through the set, a kill from Soniya Garner sparked a five-point rally to take the 15-13 lead. Later in the set, the Rams took the lead 24-20, but a kill from Garner and an error for the Rams pulled the Big Blue within two before falling 25-22.
The Big Blue used a three-point run to extend their lead to 20-16 late in the set. The Rams bounced back with a run of their own to even the score 22-22 before taking the set 25-22. The Big Blue erased an early deficit to tie it up at 13 before extending their lead 16-14. The Rams answered with a rally to take the set 25-23.
Allyson Martin led the Big Blue with seven kills, with Gabrielle Hale dishing out 18 assists. Maya Morales added 17 digs, and Nnea Williams added four blocks.
