Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University football picked up a pair of CIAA weekly awards following the opening weekend of the 2025 season, as Brandon Wiley and Mike Riley were both recognized for their standout performances against Tusculum.
Wiley was named CIAA Wide Receiver of the Week after recording 167 yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions. The sophomore scored two touchdowns of 86 and 71 yards, providing the Big Blue with explosive plays in Week 0.
On the defensive side, Riley earned CIAA Linebacker of the Week after leading Bluefield State with 10 tackles (8 solo). The senior anchored the Big Blue defense, making key stops against a Tusculum rushing attack.
Bluefield State (0-1) returns to action on Saturday, September 6, when it hosts Concord University at Mitchell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
