Charlotte, NC – Bluefield State University football fell to Johnson C. Smith University 69-13 at the Irwin Belk Complex. The Big Blue moves to 1-3 on the year with the Golden bulls improving to 4-1.
The Big Blue got on the board in the first quarter after a 32-yard field goal from Danny Dales. Dales added a 30-yard field goal in the second and connected on the extra point to finish the day with seven for the Big Blue.
In the second, quarterback Brice Koontz connected with Julian Crawley for a 34-yard touchdown. Crawley finished with five catches for 74 yards while Koontz threw for 210 yards on 16 completions. RJ Hairston added three catches for 56 yards, and Brandon Wiley chipped in 30 yards on three catches. On the ground, Tyler Wilson led the Big Blue with 52 rushing yards on 15 carries.
Defensively, Kamaree Wells led the Big Blue with nine tackles, including one for loss. Rowan Baptiste and Marcus Young Jr. each recorded an interception, with Young, Chandler Taviun and Saim Sign Safdar coming away with five tackles apiece.
