Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University women's soccer opened its 2025 season with back-to-back home matches at the East River Soccer Complex, falling to King University on Saturday 2-0 and Mount Olive on Sunday 6-1.
On Saturday evening, the Big Blue battled King with the Tornado scoring once in each half to secure a 2-0. Goalkeeper Kaycee Coty collected five saves on 24 shots faced. The Big Blue generated nine total shots, four on target, with Carmen Galante coming away with three shots on goal.
Sunday's match brought a tough test against Mount Olive, who came in firing from the opening whistle. The Trojans recorded 37 shots in the contest and pulled away with a 6-1 victory. Coty turned in another gritty performance in goal, tallying 14 saves. Bluefield State's highlight came in the 27th minute when Yassin Joof found the back of the net for the first goal for the Big Blue.
